Hackett Marshall, in October, 1938, was convicted of assault in the second degree in the Court of General Sessions, New York County. He was sentenced to Sing Sing Prison to serve an indeterminate term, minimum five years, maximum ten years, having previously been convicted of a felony. A writ of habeas corpus in his behalf was applied for by his wife, Julia Marshall.
