In an action, inter alia, to recover damages for breach of contract, the defendant Frank La Duca appeals from an order of the Supreme Court, Nassau County (Becker, *404J.), entered July 14, 1986, which denied his motion to vacate a prior order of the same court, dated April 29, 1986, which directed that an inquest be held due to the defendant’s default in appearing at a pretrial conference.

Ordered that the order is reversed, as a matter of discretion, the motion is granted, the order dated April 29, 1986, is vacated, and the matter is remitted to the Supreme Court, Nassau County, for further…
