Defendant, Patrick Ross, was convicted in a jury trial and concurrently sentenced to 70 years’ imprisonment for murder and 30 years for aggravated kidnaping. (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1981, ch. 38, pars. 9 — l(a-3), 10 — 2(3).)
