This suit was brought by appellee against the appellant to recover $1,000, the maximum sum of an insurance certificate issued to W. R. Jordan by appellant, Home Benefit Association of Angelina County.

The insurance company is a mutual concern, in which the membership thereof began with $1 per member, and under its bylaws and constitution, at the death of any member, new assessment is made to meet the obligations of the company at the death of the next member.
