The Evangelical Lutheran Society for Christian Charities is a charitable institution operating a home for the aged and infirm, and also a home and elementary school for minor children, who have no suitable homes or proper parental supervision. The institution is in the plaintiff school township, and is just outside the corporate limits of the city of Muscatine, and the defendant school district.
