OPINION
LUMBARD, Circuit Judge: *
Plaintiff, the Public Service Company of Colorado (PSCC), brought this diversity action against The Chase Manhattan Bank in 1978. PSCC charges that Chase breached its fiduciary obligations as trustee for PSCC’s pension fund — that Chase negligently monitored a mortgage investment it had made on behalf of PSCC’ and sixteen other pension funds. Consequently, Chase was unable to bring an overall and know ledgeable judgment to the decision whether and how to sell the loan at a time when Chase knew or should have known the loan had become an imprudent trust…
