Under the act of the legislature of this State, entitled “ an act to authorize aid to the construction of railroads by counties and townships taking stock in, and making donations to railroad companies,” approved May 1.2th, 1869, Acts 1869, p. 92, and in alleged conformity to that act, a tax was voted and collected in Tippecanoe county in aid of the Lafayette, Muncie, and Bloomington Railroad Company; and during the years 1871, 1872, and 1873, the commissioners of the county subscribed and paid for stock in said company to the amount of six thousand six hundred and ten shares, of the par…
