CONERY, Judge.

hA grand jury indicted Defendant, Dionte Eugene Daugherty, for attempted second degree murder, a violation of La. R.S. 14:27, and 14:30.1, and for home invasion, a violation of La.R.S. 14:62.8. A jury unanimously convicted Defendant on both counts as charged, and the trial court then sentenced Defendant to forty years at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence for attempted second degree murder and to ten years at hard labor for home invasion.
