Barrett 100 shares of the capital stock of the G. M. Barrett Company, which company was the proprietor of a department store in the city of Milwaukee.

Helen Heaney’s principal defenses to plaintiffs’ complaint were (a) that she was not the purchaser of the stock but merely surety for her husband, who was the real purchaser; (b) that she was induced to enter into the contract by reason of false representations made by Miley with reference to the value of the property; (c) that she and her husband were induced to enter into the contract of purchase by reason of representations that a stranger stood ready and willing to buy the stock, that such representations were false, and that they would…
