Under an indictment for the murder of Mary E. Taylor (the wife of the prisoner), the defendant was found guilty, with a recommendation to the mercy of the Court, and sentenced to imprisonment for life in the State penitentiary, at hard labor. From this judgment defendant gave due notice of appeal, based upon the several exceptions which will be hereinafter stated and considered.
