On the sixteenth day of March, 1866, a special election was held in the county of Otoe for the purpose of determining whether Otoe county should issue its bonds in an amount not exceeding' $200,000 for the purpose of securing an eastern railroad connection for Nebraska City. On a canvass of the votes it was found that 1362 were in favor of the proposition and 201 against it.
