delivered the opinion of the Court:
Richard Sharp, father of the defendant, and grand father of complainant made his will in 1846, and died. He had ten children. In the first clause he gave to his wife *189Elizabeth, during her “ life or widowhood,” the homestead, together with the use of four slaves, and other personal property.
