SUMMERS, Justice.

A fire and explosion which occurred in the granulator house of the American Sugar Company Refinery in the Arabi-Chalmette area on February 15, 1965 is the basis of these suits. For about 15 months prior to the explosion Link-Belt Company, under contract with American, through its own personnel and through subcontractors, was engaged in modifying facilities in the granulator house for the movement and storage of partially refined sugar.
