The defendant has appealed from a judgment rendered against her for $5,0p0, the sum claimed by the plaintiff for professional services rendered as an attorney 'at law. The services were rendered without an agreement as to the amount of the fee, and the only question presented on the appeal is whether the fee charged by the plaintiff and allowed by the district court is excessive. The plaintiff has been practicing law in New Orleans and elsewhere for 57 years, and has earned and enjoys a great reputation as one of the ablest and most honorable members of the profession.
