March 23, 1945, the defendant, John Dwyer, was indicted in the circuit court of Jefferson county for the crime of buying, receiving and aiding in the concealment of stolen property, particularly described in the indictment, having an aggregate value of $773.50. Five days later, defendant executed a written waiver of his right to a trial by jury. Defendant was represented by counsel of his own choice.
