Plaintiff brought suit against defendant under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act to recover damages for injuries sustained by him in connection with the installation of a piling cluster adjacent to defendant’s right of way over its Illinois River bridge near Pekin, Illinois. Trial by jury resulted in a verdict in his favor for $30,000, and after defendant’s motions for judgments notwithstanding the verdict and, in the alternative, for a new trial or for a remittitur were overruled, the court entered judgment on the verdict,…
