¶ 1 The Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) brought this action in the District Court for the Eighteenth Judicial District in Gallatin County to terminate the parental rights of Lee (the father) and Nicki (the mother). The District Court terminated *537the parental rights of Lee and Nicki and awarded permanent custody of E.A.T., with the right to consent to his adoption, to DPHHS.
