COX, Circuit Judge.

Matthew Beverly, an Alabama inmate serving consecutive sentences of life and sixty years for murder and rape, respectively, appeals the district court’s denial of his petition for a writ of habeas corpus. Because neither of the claims advanced by Beverly warrants habeas relief, we affirm.

Beverly was convicted and sentenced to death by electrocution in May, 1979 for intentionally killing Scott Deroo while robbing him, 1 a violation of Ala. Code § 13A-5-31(a)(2) (1975) (repealed 1981). Another indictment charging Beverly with the rape of Melissa Hefner, Deroo’s girlfriend…
