On July 19, 1978, defendant, Aaron Tyrone Blackmon, was found guilty, in a bench trial, of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, MCL 750.84; MSA 28.279, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony (felony-firearm), MCL 750.227(b); MSA 28.424(2). Defendant was sentenced on August 3, 1978, to a term of imprisonment for five to ten years on the assault conviction, to be served consecutively with a two-year mandatory term of imprisonment on the felony-firearm conviction.
