G.W. McCormick, Jr., appeals from the denial of two postjudgment motions following the trial court’s entry of a default judgment in a property dispute between *1277McCormick and his sister, Agnes Congle-ton.

The record indicates that during the latter part of 1999, following the death of her son in July 1999, Congleton, who was then a 95-year-old widow without surviving children, began making arrangements for her nephew, Douglas M.
