The Museum of the American Indian, Heye Foundation, until recently located at the intersection of 155th Street and Broadway in Manhattan, is a charitable trust established by George Gustave Heye in 1916. Since its inception the Museum has had as its mission advancing the anthropological study of the aboriginal peoples of the Americas, and towards that end has become the repository of a vast collection of Indian art and artifacts.
