(After stating the facts.) 1. The contract of insurance must be considered as a. whole. While the policy, in its first clause, insures “against all direct loss or damage by fire, except as hereinafter provided,” the meaning of the words, “direct loss or damage by fire,” is not to be determined simply from the words themselves. There are other provisions in the policy which show the sense in which the parties to the contract understood these words and intended to use them.
