This appeal primarily presents the question of whether, in an age discrimination case, a charge instructing the jury that the plaintiff bears the burden of proving that her age was the “real reason” for her discharge was erroneous. The issue arises on an appeal by plaintiff Maryanne Renz from the May 29,1996, judgment of the District Court for the Southern District of New York (Charles M.
