Appellant, whom we shall hereinafter refer to as defendant, was convicted under each of seven counts of an indictment charging violations of 18 U.S.C. § 1001 (1952), 62 Stat. 749 (1948)1 On appeal *490hi? principal contention is that the prosecution was barred by the three-year statute of limitations then applicable.
