In the aftermath of the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, thousands of workers came to the World Trade Center site and nearby locations to participate, and to be engaged, in debris removal and other clean-up tasks. Some of these workers claim to have suffered respiratory and other injuries, and have filed lawsuits against the City of New York, its contractors, building owners and others.
