The city of Chicago instituted a condemnation proceeding in the county court of Cook county under the Local Improvement act for the widening, from 40 to 80 feet, of Clinton street from Harrison street south to Roosevelt road. The improvement required the taking of two strips of land, each 20 feet wide, abutting, respectively, the east and west sides of Clinton street between the streets designated. Bertha S.
