• By an act of the legislature of Wisconsin, approved April 1, 1864, the legal voters of certain counties, among which are the counties of Eau Claire and St. Croix, were authorized to vote upon the subject of municipal aid in the construction of a railroad from Tomáh to Lake St. Croix, by the Tomah and Lake St. Croix Railroad Company,- subsequently called the West Wisconsin- Railway Company.
