delivered the opinion of the court:

A jury found defendant, Michael McCoy, guilty of murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 9—1) and armed robbery (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 18—2). The circuit court sentenced him to life imprisonment without parole for murder and 30 years for armed robbery, to be served concurrently.
