OPINION

{¶ 1} Defendant-appellant, Daniel Baxter James, appeals the Clermont County Court of Common Pleas decision resentencing him to a period of postrelease control after he pled guilty to felonious assault, aggravated robbery, and grand theft.

{¶ 2} In 1997, appellant was sentenced to serve a total of 19 years in prison after pleading guilty to the above noted charges. It is undisputed, however, that the trial court did not inform appellant that he was subject to a mandatory five-year term of postrelease control at the original sentencing hearing or in its judgment entry of sentencing.…
