The defendant, Greenwood, was indicted by the grand jury of the county of Olmsted of the offense of forgery. The indictment reads as follows:

“Ernest L. Greenwood is accused by the grand jury of the county of Olmsted, in the state of Minnesota, by this indictment, of the crime of forgery in the second degree, committed as follows: The said Ernest L. Greenwood, on the eighteenth day of December, A. D. one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven, at the city of Eochester, in the county of Olmsted and state of Minnesota, with intent to defraud, did then and there falsely and feloniously…
