From August, 1885, to June, 1891, James M. Gille and James Van Peyma were partners as hardware merchants in Kansas City, Missouri, and did business under the firm name of “Gille & Van Peyma.” The partnership was an unlimited one, each partner having an equal share therein, and it did a general wholesale and retail hardware business. The business of the firm was largely done by Van Peyma, who was its active manager, and to him was left its banking business and the borrowing of money in its name.
