Smith, Justice.

The appellant, Bobby Eugene Kellum, was convicted and sentenced to a life imprisonment for malice murder and a consecutive five-year term for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. We affirm.

The appellant and victim had been involved in a volatile relationship involving “unfaithfulness” and drug abuse. The last violent episode ended when the appellant shot the victim in the back of the head, from a distance of about one to five feet, with a 16-gauge shotgun.
