The plaintiff was the inventor of a machine, upon which he procured a patent, for the purpose of inserting and fastening rivets in the joints of umbrella ribs and stretchers where they are fastened together. The defendant, a corporation organized for manufacturing purposes, was engaged in making and selling the ribs and other parts of umbrellas.
