We granted review in this cause in order to resolve a conflict between the Courts of Appeal arising under the juvenile court law, which is codified as chapter 2 of part 1 of division 2 of the Welfare and Institutions Code, commencing with section 200, and the Juvenile Court Rules, which are set out as division la of title 5 of the California Rules of Court, commencing with rule 1400.
