I
The original plaintiffs, residents and homeowners of the Alton Park area of Chattanooga, sued Velsicol Chemical Corporation for damages allegedly caused them by pollutants emitted by Velsicol from its chemical manufacturing plant in Alton Park. It is alleged in the complaint that Velsicol’s emissions contaminated the air and water in the Alton Park area and constituted a nuisance, and also that Velsicol had been guilty of trespass in depositing identifiable quantities of chemicals and other pollutants upon plaintiffs’ properties.
