The plaintiff seeks in this suit to recover $10,000 as damages for a libel (concerning him) charged to have been published throughout the state in the Daily Picayune, a newspaper which the defendant company is engaged in publishing. Plaintiff averred: The said paper to be a newspaper of great influence and wide circulation. That in its issue of October 11, 1906, in its report of the trial of the case of the State of Louisiana v.
