Appellant Victor Lamar Jenkins pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without a negotiated plea. The court sentenced appellant to twelve years in prison. Appellant filed a timely motion for new trial asserting ineffective assistance of counsel but did not request an evidentiary hearing. The trial court denied the motion by operation of law without holding a hearing.
