Defendant, Melvin Dumas, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, a violation of La. R.S. 14:95.1. Following the denial of his motion to suppress evidence and statements, Defendant pled guilty as charged, but reserved his right to appeal the trial court’s ruling under State v. Crosby, 338 So.2d 584 (La.1976). Defendant was sentenced to ten years at hard labor, without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence, and to pay a fine of $1,000.
