I. BACKGROUND
Defendant Ronnie Thurman was charged with kidnapping, first degree sexual assault, second degree assault, and two counts of use of a weapon to commit a felony. Following a jury trial, Thurman was acquitted of kidnapping, but convicted of the lesser-included offense of first degree false imprisonment. Thurman was also convicted of first degree sexual assault, second degree assault, and two counts of use of a weapon to commit a felony.
