The State of Louisiana (state) charged the defendant, Mason N. Godfrey, by bill of information with the offense of intimidation of a public official, a. violation of La.R.S. 14:122, and a jury found him guilty of the charged offense. The trial court then sentenced the defendant to serve three years at hard labor. 1 In his appeal, the defendant’s appellate counsel asserts five assignments of error, and he asserts three pro se assignments of error. For the following reasons, we vacate the conviction and sentence; enter a verdict of guilty to threatening a public official, a violation of La.R.S.…
