The defendant was charged with the murder of his father but was convicted of the lesser offense of voluntary manslaughter. He had been living with his father but was asked to leave home because of "money matters and . . . writing some bad checks on his father’s account.” He returned to his father’s home to ask him to permit him to "move back home and stay.” An argument ensued.
