This appeal requires us to revisit the controversy surrounding the hiring practices of Bethlehem Steel Corporation’s Fabricating Steel Construction Division. Before us is an appeal from a judgment of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, Whitman Knapp, Judge, awarding appellees $512,590.02 in attorneys’ fees and costs pursuant to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, 42 U.S.C. § 2000e-5(k) (1988) and 42 U.S.C. § 1988 (1988).
