During the afternoon of January 7,1970, appellant Thomas E. Mattison, an officer and employee of a restaurant known as The Bird Cage, Inc., departed from the premises thereof, ultimately intending to travel to Jackson-Atlantic, Inc. to pick up ice for the restaurant. On his way to the ice company, Mattison intended to stop at a Georgia Power Company branch office to pay an electric bill.
