Plaintiff, Fannie Thompson, brought suit in the circuit court of Cook County to recover for injuries sustained when she was struck by an unmarked police car driven by Thomas J. Daley. Both Daley and the city of Chicago were named as defendants. Defendants raised as a defense sections 2 — 202 and 2 — 109 of the Local Governmental and Governmental Employees Tort Immunity Act (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 85, pars. 2 — 202, 2— 109).
