On June 26, 1975, plaintiff Kathryn M. Froelich, a citizen of Hawaii, was a passenger in an automobile operated by defendant Glenn McDermott, a citizen of California, when it was involved in a traffic accident near Long Beach, California, with an automobile driven by defendant Vito Petrelli, a citizen of California.
