On November 16, 1831, the estate of Tamaulipas, Republic of Mexico, granted to Enrique Villareal 10 leagues of land in what is now Nueces county, Tex. The grant was designated as the “Rincon del’ Oso.” It was surveyed at the time by Antonio Canales, surveyor general of the state of Tamaulipas, who made a map of the grant, of which a copy, attached to the grant, is on file among the archives in the general land office'of Texas.
