MEMORANDUM

TAURO, District Judge.

I. Introduction

Plaintiff in this action is a male-to-female transsexual currently in the custody of the Massachusetts Department of Correction (DOC). In her complaint she 1 alleges that Defendants, who are officials responsible for her medical care, have violated her Eighth and Fourteenth Amendment rights by failing to provide her with adequate medical treatment for her gender identity disorder (“GID”).
