The appellee, The Ancient order of United Workmen,, issued to Robert K. Manning, through its Supreme *137Lodge, on January 13, 1879, a certificate of membership as a master workman, entitling him to an interest in its beneficiary fund to the extent of two thousand dollars, it, by the terms of the certificate, to be paid at his death to his brother, the appellant, Lelly J. Manning.

By the regulations of the order this insurance was obtained through the subordinate lodge. The certificate" was sent to it for the insured, but for some reason not disclosed…
