GIVAN, Justice.
In 1975, a jury trial resulted in the conviction of appellant of First Degree Murder; Kidnapping; Commission of a Crime While Armed with a Deadly Weapon, Robbery; Commission of a Crime While Armed with a Deadly Weapon, Rape; and Carrying a Handgun Without a License. Appellant was originally sentenced to death by electrocution on the murder charge, to life imprisonment for kidnapping, and to fifteen (15) years each on the charges of robbery and rape, to be served consecutively-
