VANDE WALLE, Chief Justice.

The Estate of Doris Thorson appealed from an order dismissing Doris Thorson’s action for divorce. We conclude an action for divorce abates on the death of a party and we affirm.

On March 14, 1994, after nineteen years of marriage, Doris Thorson filed for divorce from Allen Thorson. Although each had children from previous marriages, no children were born of this marriage, the second marriage for both parties.
